KETTLEBELL MMA WORKOUT – FUNK ROBERTS

By Brett On March 27, 2010 Under Getting Ripped

KILLER MMA KETTLEBELL WORKOUT – vol 3 Using Kettlebells to ramp up muscular endurance is perfect for killer MMA battles. Doing high rep sets of Kettlebell swings, snatches, and cleans is a great way to build strength, burn fat and increase your conditioning. With Vol. 3, you are going to use interval training, switching between skipping and Kettlebell exercises. Each interval is one minute (1:1) – that’s one minute skipping followed by one minute of the Kettlebell exercise – the skipping is counted as your active rest between the Kettlebell sets, but you will soon find out that it still hits your cardiovascular endurance. DO YOU WANT THE ENTIRE WORKOUT? DO YOU WANT TO KNOW THE BENEFITS OF EACH EXERCISE? – GO TO WWW.FUNKROBERTSFITNESS.COM

It does take a lot to do this work out, how ever all your kettle bell exercises are not proper form.

This routine is very reminiscent to the High Octane Cardio routine made by Mike Mahler. HOC blends cardio with strength work, like boxers usually do (roadwork). I did a routine like this during the summer with a 35 lb Kettlebell:

1 min Jump rope
10 KB Clean & Jerks each arm
1 min Jump rope
10 KB Snatches each arm
1 min Jump rope
10 KB Swings each arm

I would cycle through that 2 to 3 times in a workout. Few workouts are as effective as HOC! But be conservative with the weight you use.

Nice. I used to do the exact same workout back when I blew my MCL. My grappling coach had me jump rope and swing his KB around to keep my leg strong. 4 months later I actually feel better than I did before my accident. Seriously, before, I was a Kettlebell skeptic… now, I seriously am a believer.
